Friday 13th February

As we move further into the term, we are hopeful that the worst of the cold and grey days will soon be leaving us behind, with brighter skies and better weather on the way. The shift towards lighter, warmer days will further develop the strong sense of positivity that already exists across the school, and we look forward to seeing the children continue to engage enthusiastically in their learning.

We would also like to share some lovely news — congratulations to Mrs Curran, who is expecting a baby! We are all absolutely delighted for her and know that the whole school community will join us in wishing her every happiness as she prepares for this exciting new chapter. More information will follow next term regarding arrangements and details about Beech class cover during her maternity leave.

Number Day

We had a fantastic time celebrating Number Day at school! The children took part in a range of fun, number-based activities throughout the day, from exciting maths challenges and games to creative counting tasks in the classroom. It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved and showing such enthusiasm for maths. Many pupils also dressed up in brilliant number-themed outfits, which made the day even more special and colourful.  We would like to also say a big thank you as well to all the parents and carers who kindly made donations.

Class Highlights

EYFS classes have been busy creating their very own superheroes using real vegetables! The children used  potatoes and carrots, adding pipe cleaner arms and legs, decorating them with masks, googly eyes, and paper capes. This activity was fantastic for developing their fine motor skills, and everyone showed great creativity and focus. The end results looked amazing, and the children were so proud to share their superhero creations.

This term, Year 1 classes have been getting wonderfully creative in art lessons. The children began by carefully planning and designing what their Tree of Life would look like, thinking thoughtfully about shape, detail and overall design. They then brought their ideas to life using paper and a variety of creative methods to add texture and depth to their work.

The finished pieces show fantastic imagination, effort and attention to detail, and each tree is unique. The final results look absolutely fantastic!

Year 2 have been very busy taking part in a fun and exciting food-making activity. The children began by tasting a wide range of foods from all the different food groups, talking about flavours, textures and healthy choices. They then discussed which foods they enjoyed the most and used this to plan their own wraps.

The children showed excellent cutting skills as they carefully chopped peppers, onions and fresh herbs, following instructions and working safely. This hands-on activity helped to develop their independence and confidence. It was a fantastic learning experience and the children were extremely proud of their finished wraps, which they enjoyed eating at the end.

Playground Improvements

The PTA and our Site Supervisors have been busy enhancing the playground to make it greener and more welcoming for everyone. With the support of a grant from RHS, alongside additional PTA funding, we’ve been able to create more green spaces for the children to explore and enjoy. This also means next term we will now offer a Gardening Club for a small group of children to join.

We’re delighted with the improvements and hope they make playtimes even more enjoyable for all. We would also like to extend a big thank you to Ise Garden Centre for kindly providing a discount on plants.

After School Clubs

After School Clubs will be available to book for next term at the end of the school day. We encourage families to secure their child’s place as soon as possible via Arbor, as spaces are limited and fill up quickly.
