It has been lovely to see the children make such a positive start to the new school year. We have enjoyed welcoming our new starters, seeing our returning children reconnect with friends and getting to know their new teachers and settle into their classrooms.
One of the highlights of this term has been launching our new school values of Kindness, Perseverance, Independence and Ambition. The children have been getting to know Kipa, our friendly red squirrel, who will help bring these values to life and encourage the children to recognise them in their everyday actions and choices.
Each Friday, we celebrate children who have demonstrated one of our values in our Celebration Assembly. Teachers nominate children to receive a special certificate, recognising the positive choices they make and the ways they put our values into practice. It is wonderful to celebrate these achievements together.
We look forward to sharing more of the children's learning, achievements and memorable moments with you throughout the year.
Many thanks,
Mel Eldridge

Introducing Our New School Values

Through Kipa, we hope our values will become a meaningful part of everyday school life, helping our children to grow into confident, caring, resilient and ambitious individuals.

Year 1 Science: Exploring Our Senses
Our Year 1 children have been exploring their senses in Science! They have investigated a range of foods, including lemons, popcorn, oranges and garlic, using their noses and taste buds to discover different smells and tastes.
This hands-on investigation helped them develop their scientific vocabulary and observation skills as they compared different foods and discussed their similarities and differences.

Year 2: Learning About Germs
Year 2 took part in an exciting lesson about germs! Miss Bailey used glitter to help see just how easily germs can spread and travel from one person to another.
The highlight of the lesson was when Miss Bailey demonstrated what happens when we sneeze… creating a giant glitter cloud of “germs”! The children absolutely loved it and were amazed to see just how far the glitter could travel.

Harvest Festival
We were delighted to welcome Rev. Helen Wakefield Carr, who led a thoughtful and engaging Harvest Festival assembly. She reminded us how important it is to share what we have, look out for others and remember that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
The children had a wonderful time celebrating together, joining in with a Harvest song and listening to some of our Year 2 children proudly share their Harvest poems. It was a lovely chance for us all to come together and think about Harvest, being thankful for what we have and the importance of caring for others in our community.
A huge thank you to everyone who donated. We were completely overwhelmed by your generosity, and all of your donations have now been delivered to Kettering Food Bank, where they will help support local people and families. In fact, we collected so much that we managed to fill Rev. Helen’s van! What an amazing achievement!

EYFS Outdoor Area Development
We are delighted to celebrate the development of our EYFS outdoor area, made possible with the generous support of the Trust. This enhanced space provides valuable opportunities for our youngest children to explore, play and learn outdoors, supporting their development through practical, hands-on experiences. It is a wonderful addition to our setting and will enrich the children’s learning and enjoyment throughout the year.

Healthy Lunches at School
Healthy eating plays an important role in children’s growth, concentration and energy levels throughout the school day. By providing a balanced lunch and nutritious snacks, we can help children feel their best and make the most of their learning.
What Makes a Healthy Lunch?
A balanced lunchbox can include wholemeal bread, wraps or pasta, a source of protein such as eggs, chicken, cheese or beans, and a variety of fruit and vegetables. Remember to include a bottle of water to help keep children hydrated throughout the day.
|
Top Tips for Parents and Carers
-
Keep it colourful: Offer a variety of fruit and vegetables.
-
Get children involved: Let them help choose and prepare their lunch.
-
Try something new: Introduce new foods alongside familiar favourites.
-
Keep it simple: Healthy lunches do not need to be expensive or complicated.
