It has been wonderful to welcome everyone back to school after the summer break, and a special warm welcome to the new children who have joined us in Reception and across the school. The children have settled quickly into their new classes, making friends and getting to know their teacher and teaching assistant. This year, we are also enjoying our new class names, each named after a tree. If you are unsure of your child’s class name or teacher, please check on Dojo or speak to a member of staff who will be happy to help.

This year, we are introducing a Class Attendance Award as part of our Monday assemblies. Each week, the class with the highest attendance will receive an award to display proudly in their classroom. As an additional reward, the winning class will also sit on the benches during assemblies that week.

Good attendance is vital for children’s learning and wellbeing. Being in school every day helps children build routines, stay connected with their classmates, and make the most of all the learning opportunities available. By celebrating attendance together, we hope to encourage and motivate the children to come to school regularly and on time.

  Drop Off and Collection Times

Drop-off and collection times are very busy at school, as many children and parents are arriving or leaving at the same time.

  • Morning Drop-off:

Year 1 and Year 2 doors open at 8:40am.

Reception doors open at 8:50am.

To ensure we can start the day promptly, there is a short 5-minute window for children to enter.

After this time, doors will close. If you arrive late, please bring your child to the main office to be signed in.

  • Home Time Collection:

Teachers will dismiss children one at a time to ensure they are collected safely. We kindly ask for your patience during this process.

As the playground can become very busy, we ask that families leave the site promptly after collection to help keep everyone safe and ensure the flow of people runs smoothly. While waiting on the school grounds, please supervise your children and ensure they do not play on the school equipment in either the Infant or Junior playgrounds.

For safety reasons, bikes and scooters must not be ridden in the playgrounds—please walk and push them until you have left the school premises.

Additionally, Mrs. Walker has requested that children do not use the ping pong table or play in the blue Smooga area on the Junior playground.

Thank you for your cooperation and support in helping us keep drop-off and collection safe and efficient.

Parking Safely Around School

We kindly remind all parents and carers to park safely and responsibly around the school site. Please avoid parking on double yellow lines, across driveways, or in a way that blocks access for residents, pedestrians, or emergency vehicles.

For everyone’s safety, do not park or stop on the zigzag lines outside the school gates — these areas must be kept clear to protect children crossing.

Let’s work together to keep our school community safe.

Ordering School Lunches

School meals at Kettering Park Infants are ordered through SchoolGrid. Login details will be emailed to the address you provided to the school. You can book meals in advance, but please note that same-day orders or cancellations must be made by 8:55am.

All children at Kettering Park Infants receive school meals free of charge, so no payment is required.

If you need any help logging into SchoolGrid, please contact the school office.

Staying in Touch

We want to make sure you never miss out on important updates from school. Our main way of keeping in touch is through Dojo, and we’ll also share news in our school newsletter and by email via Arbor.

To help reduce paper waste, support the environment, and save on school office costs, we try not to send letters home with the children.

Please make sure you have both the Dojo app and the Arbor app downloaded so you’re always up-to-date with everything happening in school.

LockDown and Fire Drills

At school, your child’s safety is always our top priority. As part of this, we gently practice safety drills with the children throughout the year, so that if we ever needed them, everyone would know exactly what to do.

  • Fire Drill: Classes calmly walk together to the park as part of our evacuation practice.
  • Lockdown Drill: Children stay safely in their classrooms with the doors locked and voices quiet.

We want to reassure you that these are purely precautionary practices. There is no expectation that we will need to use them, but they help children feel prepared and confident, just like practicing a fire drill at home.

During all drills, staff carefully guide and support the children to make sure the experience is calm and reassuring.

Data Collection Sheets

We have sent home a data collection sheet for your child. Please check the information carefully, make any necessary updates, and return the form to school as soon as possible. It is important that we have accurate and up-to-date information for your child.

PE Days

Please take note of your child’s PE day.

Bay Class – Tuesday

Beech Class – Friday

Birch Class – Monday

Cedar Class – Wednesday

Cherry Class – Thursday

Chestnut Class – Friday

Hawthorn Class – Wednesday

Hazel Class – Monday

On PE days, Year 1 and Year 2 children should come to school dressed in their PE kit, ready for their lesson.

Reception children should bring a named PE kit to school, which will be kept in school for the term. They will get changed for PE during the school day.

Labelling Uniform and Belongings

We kindly ask all parents and carers to ensure that items of school uniform, coats, bags, water bottles, and lunchboxes etc are clearly labelled with your child’s name. This helps us return lost property quickly and ensures items don’t go missing.
