School Performance/Ofsted

Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills. They report directly to Parliament and are independent and impartial. They inspect and regulate services which care for children and young people, and those providing education and skills for learners of all ages. The new Inspection Framework was implemented in September 2012. Academys are informed the day before an inspection. Parents/Carers are also informed by letter and are encouraged to respond on the Ofsted website through Parent View, see link below.

During an inspection the focus is on the quality of the service for individual children. Inspectors collect first-hand evidence based on the practise they observe and what they learn from the people using the service. They use this evidence and other information available to make their professional judgements which are published in inspection reports.
